about

'Superb, concrète-ambient and electro-jazz delicacies from Milan’s Sebastiano Carghini, venturing some of his strongest work with the cult label Total Stasis, who previously introduced us to CS + Kreme and Laila Sakini - follow the logic!

Last heard by us on 2020’s ‘Blue’ tape with Enmossed/Psychic Liberation, Carghini checks back in with a wonderfully elusive, amorphous style on ‘As Long As I Go’, which piques our interests somewhere between the decorous ambient of sferic and a rawer, hands-on, and textured approach comparable with the quiet haptics of Bellows, the most spacious Vladislav Delay or Valerio Tricoli, and the lushest K-hole you’ve ever had. Ears won’t deceive you; this is very good stuff, mulched and occurring with a hypnagogic logic that’s a rare pleasure to undergo, especially if you’re partial to the zzzonk.

Perhaps the most shapeshifting session yet on Total Stasis, the album unfurls, buckles, and warps with a slow-burning but persistently mutating quality that has us snagged, fraying a fine line of thought between the splashing electro-dub of his opener and coolly tattered tape tekkers of its closer, variously sweepign us up in the gorgeous sampledelic whorls of track 2, and really getting inside our heads for the 9 mins of hushed woollen jazz on track 3, with puckered touches of electro-jazzy noodling and much harder to place patches of emotively curious composition in between. It’s one that defies any hard n fast category, and will surely be recognised in due course by heads who recognise music that lives in its own world.'
